Welcome to Glorietta
Here is where Orinda flattens out and stretches out at least a bit. You’ll find those quintessential ranchers with picket fences and flat yards; streets that are easy to walk along for an evening dog walk or to take the children to school; where Trick-or-Treating and seasonal decorating is a neighborhood passion. The cul-de-sacs and discrete uphill lanes hide some high-end custom properties (some backing onto the Lafayette Reservoir). At the top of the hill around Donald Drive and Alice Lane (named after the 1930s developers of Moraga) more pricey properties abound (including Donald’s own home) But on the whole, Glorietta provides a range of price points, depending on the flatness of the lot, exposure to traffic noise, and whether the house needs work. Most of these homes are in the Glorietta Elementary School zone, although the west side of Moraga Way may belong to Wagner Ranch or Del Rey.
*To determine with certainty which schools a particular house is affiliated with, do TWO things: go to the Orinda Union School District website and use the School Site Locator, entering the exact address of the property in question. Then (IMPORTANT), a phone that school directly and ask about space availability in the grade your child will enter.
